Paris Saint-Germain and Brazil right back Dani Alves has responded to reports he wiped his nose on Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo.
The two players were involved in several battles, with Ronaldo at one point being seen attempting to kick Alves, during Los Blancos’ 2-1 victory at the Parc des Princes, which saw Real knock Les Parisiens out of the UEFA Champions League 5-2 on aggregate.
It was PSG’s first home defeat after going 51 games unbeaten, and video footage appeared to show that Alves rubbed his nose with his fingers before wiping them on Ronaldo’s sleeves (see minute 1:10 in the video below).
However, the former FC Barcelona star, who clashed multiple times with the Portuguese in El Clasicos, has refuted those claims, labeling them as stupid.
“In my job, it’s not painful to be eliminated because that’s part of day-to-day life, but to have to see and read stupid things like this…” Alves wrote (translated from Spanish) in a post on Twitter.
“I will continue competing like I have done and leave the nonsense to stupid people #respectwinorlose.”
Overall, Alves has made 33 appearances for PSG so far this season, scoring four goals and assisting another eight strikes.
