Ruthless Barcelona crowned Copa Del Rey champions

FC Barcelona were Copa del Rey champions after they outclassed Sevilla 5-0 in the final, with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez playing starring roles.

The Catalan giants carved out the game’s first chance after seven minutes when Messi’s free-kick was tipped around the post by Soria.
 
Barca eventually broke the deadlock on 14 minutes as Philippe Coutinho burst into the box before teeing up Luis Suarez for the simple tap in.
 
Sevilla had to wait until the 24th minute for their first real opening as Steven N’Zonzi failed to hit the target from close range after being picked out by Jesus Navas.
 
Barca doubled their lead on 31 minutes with Messi firing home a thumping strike after some good work by Jordi Alba and Andreas Iniesta set up the Argentine.
 
The Catalan giants managed to bag a third goal five minutes before the break as Messi turned provider to set up Suarez for his second of the match.
 
Barca started the second half as they ended the first, with Andres Iniesta bagging the fourth goal with a fine individual effort after being played in by Messi.
 
They were afforded another chance to extend their lead in the 70th minute after being awarded a penalty, which Coutinho converted to make it 5-0.
 
With Barca comfortably leading, Valverde introduced the likes of Paulinho and Ousmane Dembele for the 15 minutes of the encounter.
 
Sevilla barely showed any real attacking intent in the second half as Barca moved the ball around with ease.
 
In the end, 5-0 was how the clash ended as the Catalan giants are on course to clinch the league and cup double.
