A Spanish court on Friday exchanged Messi’s 21-month in prison for tax fraud for a quarter of million euro fine.
The four time Ballon d’Or winner was found guilty of three counts last year of tax fraud of 4.1million euros over income earned from image rights.
His father’s 15-months sentence was also exchanged for a fine of 180,000 euros.
Neither Messi or his father would have served time in jail following the original ruling as defendants without a previous conviction are permitted to serve any sentence of under two years on probation, reports Marca. //Actuantes//
