Alexis Sanchez wants to leave Arsenal and join Manchester City who can provide him Champions League football, according to reports from Chile.
Arsene Wenger wants the forward to stay at all costs, especially now that he managed to secure the services of Alexandre Lacazette for a club record deal.
El Mercurio, a Chile newspaper, reports that City have made a bid of 47million pounds for the player.
Alexis Sanchez has one more season left in his contract with the Gunners, which means that he can leave for free next summer.
However, some reports suggest that Arsenal are willing to lose him for free and not sell him to a direct Premier League rival.
But Sanchez is ready to force a move and has told the club’s board that he wants to play for Manchester City.
‘Not playing in the Champions League is a big deal for Alexis, he is motivated to participate and win it,” said a source close to the player, reports El Mercurio.
‘Alexis spoke to his team-mates in Russia about the subject, he has spoken with his family as well.
‘All of them came to the same conclusion – it is best for him to end his journey with Arsenal and join City.
‘Alexis is not willing for that, for any reason, [to stay at Arsenal] his idea is to leave in this moment.’
