Jeremy Mathieu has joined Sporting Lisbon.
Barcelona have agreed to terminate the defender’s contract earlier, and the French has left the Blaugrana as free agent, three years after completing 20million euros move from Valencia.
But Mathieu is not the first player to be left to go for free from Barca.
Last summer, four players left Camp Nou for zero cent, with Dani Alves being the mos surprising one, Sandro Ramirez also, with both impressing later at Juventus and Malaga respectively.
Alex Song and Martin Montoya also left the Catalan club to join Rubin Kazan and Valencia for free.
Adriano left for just a bit more than 1 million euros, Allen Halilovic was sold for 5million, while Marc Bartra joined Borussia Dortmund for 8million.
A few year earlier, Ibrahim Afellay left for free and David Villa joined Atletico Madrid for only 4million.
Barca now are hoping to earn more money from sales to balance their finances. //Actuantes//
