According to his agent, Poland international Robert Lewandowski has explained to Bayern Munich officials why he wants to leave the Bundesliga giants in this transfer window.
The 29-year-old has been heavily linked with UEFA Champions League winners Real Madrid in the past few months, although the German club has insisted there have been no talks.
Pini Zahavi, who became Lewandowski’s representative in February, has now confirmed that his client wants to leave the Bavarian club.
“Robert feels he needs a change and a new challenge in his career. The Bayern management know about it,” Zahavi told Sport Bild.
“Robert’s motives are not money or a particular club, because almost all the top clubs would like to have the best striker in the world in their ranks.
“Everyone in Bayern’s club management has had a great career of their own. They should understand his situation.”
Lewandowski, whose contract with Bayern expires in 2021, made 48 appearances for the club in the 2017/18 campaign, scoring 41 goals and assisting further five strikes.
