UEFA Champions League holders Real Madrid will reportedly looking to sign a former FC Barcelona star if Mateo Kovacic leaves the club.
Kovacic admitted previously that he could look elsewhere for regular game time after playing second fiddle to play Luka Modric and Casemiro.
According to Marca, Los Blancos will target FC Bayern Muncih’s Thiago Alcantara as a possible for replacement for Kovacic.
Los Blancos are believed to have no intention of selling Kovacic, although the club are aware of new coach Julen Lopetegui’s relationship with Thiago.
Thiago was a regular starter for Spain when Lopetegui was in charge of the national side.
The same report claims that Real have always admired the 27-year-old, but the player seemed an impossible target due to his links with FC Barcelona.
