Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is believed to be keen to reinforce his defence, and is reportedly looking to land one of three centre-backs in this transfer window.
The former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss is not happy with his current crop of defenders, and is looking to sell either Marcos Rojo, Eric Bailly, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones or Victor Lindelof to make room for a new general.
According to the Daily Mail, Mourinho is interested in Leicester City’s Harry Maguire, Tottenham Hotspur’s Toby Alderweireld and AC Milan’s Leonardo Bonucci.
England international Maguire is said to be the Portuguese tactician’s preferred choice in this window, but could cost the Red Devils as much as £65 million (R1.15 billion) after his impressive 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign with the Three Lions.
Spurs and Belgium centre-back Alderweireld is apparently the second choice for now, but his situation at the London club is a tricky one as they do not want to sell the Belgian to any of their league rivals.
Bonucci seems to be the outside pick for Mourinho at this point, and he is also heavily linked with French giants Paris Saint-Germain.
