FC Barcelona have announced the signing of an African who made the headlines during the 2018 FIFA World Cup and will become the eighth player from Africa to wear the Blaugrana shirt.
The Catalan giants have concluded the transfer of Senegal’s Moussa Wague from KAS Eupen.
FC Barcelona and KAS Eupen have reached an agreement for the transfer of Moussa Wague, pending the signing of the contract, which will take place in the coming days. Wague, who passed the relevant medical tests this Friday morning, will train for the first time with his team-mates this Saturday morning at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.
Wague wrote the headlines for Senegal during the World Cup after becoming the youngest African in history to score at the global showpiece when he netted against Japan.
The right-back is just 19 years old, but has already made 13 appearances for the Lions of Teranga, and it has been reported that he will at first be registered with Barca’s B side, but will train with the first team.
It is believed the club have high hopes that he will soon push for a spot in the first team, in which Nelson Semedo and Sergi Roberto are the two favoured right-back options.
Wague is the Blaugrana’s fourth signing in this window, after Arthur Melo, Clement Lenglet and Malcom.
