The Premier League transfer window closes in less than a week, so we had a look at the most expensive EPL deals so far, with two African superstars among the top three and as many as six Brazilians in the top 10.
Manchester City have made only one signing so far, but the €67.8 million (R1.06 billion) they splashed out for Riyad Mahrez is the most expensive deal in England this window.
That is followed by two Liverpool signings, with Alisson becoming the most expensive goalkeeper in history following his €62.5 million (R977 million) transfer from AS Roma, and Naby Keita turning into one of the most expensive Africans ever. The Guinea midfielder completed his €60 million (R938 million) move to the Reds from RB Leipzig on 1 July.
Manchester United’s €59 million (R922 million) deal for Fred follows in fourth place, while Jorginho’s €57 million (R891 million) switch between Napoli and Chelsea completes the top five.
Fabinho, another Liverpool signing, sits in sixth place after the Brazilian joined the Reds from Monaco for €45 million (R703 million). His countryman Richarlison follows in seventh after his €39.2 million (R613 million) switch from Watford to Everton.
Felipe Anderson is the sixth Brazilian among the most expensive Premier League deals in this window. The skilful winger joined West Ham United from Lazio for €38 million (R594 million).
Another African in Jean Michael Seri follows in ninth place after completing a somewhat surprising €30 million (R469 million) transfer from OGC Nice to newly-promoted Fulham. Uruguayan Lucas Torreira, who joined Arsenal from Sampdoria for the same amount, completes the top 10.
