Superstar Cristiano Ronaldo was the second highest-paid footballer in LaLiga before his surprising transfer from Real Madrid to Juventus, but who are the best-paid players in the Spanish top flight since his exit? The list includes one of FC Barcelona’s latest signings!
Ronaldo was believed to be behind Barca’s Lionel Messi as the league’s best-paid star, earning a weekly salary of £365 000 (R6.3 million) a week at Real compared to the Argentine’s wage of £500 000 (R8.6 million) a week.
The Argentine is still reportedly earning the same amount every week at last season’s league champions, but who is closest to him?
Second on the list is former Tottenham Hotspur Gareth Bale, who is on £350 000 (R6 million) a week at Los Blancos.
The Welshman is currently Real’s best-paid player following Ronaldo’s move to Juventus, but that could change if Florentino Perez lures Neymar back to Spain next season.
The Blaugrana’s Luis Suarez follows in third place with his wage of £290 000 (R5 million) a week, ahead of several players earning the same salaries at their respective clubs.
Real duo Toni Kroos and Sergio Ramos, as well as Barca’s Philippe Coutinho and Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann are reportedly earning weekly wages of £200 000 (R3.4 million) in LaLiga.
Eighth on the list is four-time UEFA Champions League winner Luka Modric on £180 000 (R3.1 million) a week, although reports coming out of Spain have suggest that his future at Real is very uncertain.
Barca midfielder Sergio Busquets is said to be on the same weekly wage as Modric, while Barca’s new signing Arturo Vidal rounds up the top 10 with his weekly salary of £165 000 (R2.8 million).
