A Manchester United target has reportedly told manager Jose Mourinho he is not interested in joining him at Old Trafford.
According to the Daily Mail, Bayern Munich and Germany centre-back Jerome Boateng has informed the Portuguese tactician that he does not wish to move to the English giants after weeks of speculation.
The Red Devils apparently submitted a bid worth £22.5 million (R388 million) for the 29-year-old on Tuesday, but were told it was not enough, and that they would need to up their price to £45 million (R776 million) if they are to open negotiations with the defender.
Boateng’s change of heart is said to have come after he sat down with new Bayern coach Niko Kovac, who has ensured him he still has a role to play at the Bavarian club, despite what some have been saying.
This news has reportedly come as a big blow to Mourinho and United, who have struggled to get their targets over the line in this window. The Manchester side has reportedly missed out on FC Barcelona’s Yerry Mina and Tottenham Hotspur’s Toby Alderweireld in recent days too.
