Real Madrid were back to winning ways in LaLiga after they registered a 2-0 win over Real Valladolid at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Gareth Bale, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric returned to the side after being rested for the Copa del Rey encounter on Wednesday.
Los Blancos came out firing in the first half, with the likes of Bale and Karim Benzema going close to scoring in the opening 15 minutes.
Jordi Masip came to the visitors’ rescue after 33 minutes as he produced a superb save to keep out Casemiro’s towering header following a set-piece.
Valladolid nearly silenced the Bernabeu just before the break through Enes Umal, who sent a diving header just wide of the upright from six-yards.
Los Blancos came out firing in the second half, as Benzema and Casemiro were both denied by Masip in the opening 10 minutes.
The woodwork came to the home side’s rescue in the 66th minute as Villa’s curling effort from distance sailed past Thibaut Courtois but crashed against the upright.
The opening goal eventually arrived in the 83rd minute when Kiko Olivas deflected the ball into his own net.
Los Blancos were then awarded a penalty in the 88th minute after Vinícius Júnior was brought down. Sergio Ramos stepped up and slotted home to seal three points.
