Footage resurfaces of Emmanuel Adebayor’s hilarious exchange with Christian Eriksen after match in 2014

Mohamed Salah recently captured the hearts of many for his gesture to James Milner after the Englishman marked his 500th appearance for the club with another hearty display.

Salah was awarded man-of-the-match after his hat-trick helped Klopp’s side brush past AFC Bournemouth with a 4-0 away victory.

Salah then handed his award to Milner as a token for his dedication to the club.

However, in the wake of the incident, a video has resurfaced of a similar exchange between Spurs players several seasons ago – but this one had a very different and much more comedic outcome.

Following Spurs’ 5-1 dismantling of Sunderland back in April 2014, Christian Eriksen was awarded man-of-the-match.

The Dane was pulling the strings from midfield, scoring in the 78th minute and assisting two other goals.

Although, former Arsenal and Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor had other ideas. He, himself, had scored twice, one of which was thanks to an Eriksen assist.

The video shows a Sky Sports pundit give Adebayor the award to ‘do the honours’ and hand it to Eriksen, to which he responds:

“No, no. I am not going to give it to him, I am going to keep it for myself.”

The stern, emotionless delivery of Adebayor’s words create a sort of tension as to whether he’s actually serious.

Judging by Eriksen’s reaction, he also seemed semi-worried.

Eventually, Adebayor does concede and give Eriksen the award, as both players embrace and head back to the changing rooms to celebrate.
