Watch: Remembering when Morata completely destroyed Chelsea’s new arrival four years ago

Alvaro Morata is officially a Chelsea player.

The Spain international has completed his move from Real Madrid to west London for a club record fee of 70million pounds.

At first, it looked like Manchester United will be his destination, but the Red Devils failed to reach an agreement with Los Blancos and went for Romelu Lukaku instead who, at that time, was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea.

After Jose Mourinho’s side secured the services of the Belgium international, it was clear that The Blues would go for Morata who’s always been Antonio Conte’s favorite choice.

The former Juventus striker scored 20 goals in just 19 starts for the Madrid club last season, but failed to convince Zinedine Zidane who opted for Karim Benzema to lead the attack ahead of him.

Defender, Antonio Rudiger also joined Chelsea this summer from Roma for 34million pounds.

And four years ago, during the Under 21 European Championship, the Germany international was completely out played by his new team-mate during a match against Spain.

Morata scored the only goal of the match in the 86’th minute in the 2013 group stages. He used his pace and power to run pass Rudiger, who could just watch while Morata outdid him and scored at the near post.
