The US Government are accusing former Barcelona player of being a drug lord

On Wednesday the Office of Control of Goods of Foreigners (OFAC) have published a list of the frotmen persons for the drug trafficker Raul Flores Hernandez and former Barcelona defender Rafa Marquez was included.

In the 23 name list, all Mexican citizens, Marquez was included and nine of the 42 companies mentioned are linked to the player Fundacion Futbol y Corazon, Grupo Deportivo Marquez Pardo, Alvaner Sports Group, Alhoma Nutritional Group, Prosport & Health Imagen, Servicios Educativos And Business and Therapeutic Group of Puerto Vallarta, reports Marca.


All assets and visas of the persons in the image above were frozen and cancelled, as well as prohibiting any American company from doing any type of business with the player’s companies and the other members of the list.

“Raul Flores Hernandez has operated successfully for decades because of his long-standing relationship with other drug cartels and his use of financial frontmen to mask his profits from the sale of illegal drugs,” said OFAC Director John E. Smith.

This is the first time that a big name of Mexican sport is involved in such thing.


Marquez has made 163 appearances for Barca between 2003 and 2010 scoring nine goals. //Actuantes//
