Ousmane Dembele’s injury is set to save Barcelona 10million euros.
The French forward joined the Catalans from Borussia Dortmund this summer for 97million pounds, but suffered a serious hamstring injury against Getafe in the weekend and is set to be out from three to four months.
It will be a huge miss for Ernesto Valverde’s side, as he was brought as a direct replacement to Neymar who joined Paris Saint-Germain for a world record fee.
But why Dembele’s injury is set to save Barca 10million euros?
Well, the Mirror are reporting that there’s a clause in the player’s contract which obliges Barca to pay an additional 10million to Borussia Dortmund if the player makes 50 or more matches this season.
A Barca statement read: “The tests made to the player of the first Ousmane Dembele team have determined that they have a rupture of the tendon of the femoral biceps of the left thigh.
“The player will be subjected to surgical treatment by Dr. Sakari Orava this coming week in Finland.
“The expected time out will be between 3 months and a half and 4 months.” //Actuantes//
